WireTap Studio General Preferences
To access the general pane of the WireTap Studio preferences, go to the WireTap Studio menu and select Preferences, then click on the General button.
Always Visible - with this option checked, the WireTap Studio controller will always be visible on screen, even when WireTap Studio is not the front most application. Use this option to always have the WireTap Studio controller available for quick recordings.
The WireTap Studio controller is designed so that a single click in the controller will not make WireTap Studio the front most application. You can click and move the controller, set the source for recordings choose a file format from the preset menu and turn LivePreview™ on or off while still interacting with the application you are recording from. To bring WireTap Studio forward, double click on the controller or click on the WireTap Studio icon in the Dock.
Animate Status Display - with this option checked, the current file format settings will scroll through the display portion of the WireTap Studio controller.
Start/Stop Hotkey - use this field to set a hot key to start and stop recordings with the controller. When WireTap Studio is open, just press the hotkey(s) to start and stop a recording with the current settings.
Version Check - with this option checked, WireTap Studio will automatically check the Ambrosia website to see if a newer version of the application is available at the interval set in the popup menu.
WireTap Studio can be set to check for a newer version on each launch, daily, weekly or monthly. With this option unchecked, WireTap Studio will never check the Ambrosia Website for an updated version.
Automate startup/wakeup computer for scheduled sessions - with this option checked WireTap Studio will automatically wake your computer from sleep, or even start it if it is shut down when a scheduled session is pending.
Note: - this requires an admin's username and password to activate. WireTap Studio can start your machine automatically, but it can not log in to a particular account, so your machine has to be set to autologin in System Preferences->Accounts->Login Options.
Show scheduled sessions in iCal calendar - with this option checked scheduled sessions will be displayed in your iCal calendar.
Playthrough Device - use this menu to choose the output audio device WireTap Studio will use to play audio.
